"People with vested interests harming co-ops" - CM Tuesday, November 20, 2001

AHMEDABAD: Chief Minister Narendra Modi has said successive financial frauds and scandals have tarnished the image of the co-operative sector. He also criticised people with "vested interests" who were bringing bad name to the co-operative sector.
Addressing the concluding session of 'Sahkar Saptah' at Gandhinagar on Tuesday, Modi said as long as the co-operative sector was dominated by sincere leaders, it served the purpose of service to society. However, such people had lost their grip over the sector and the administration had slipped into hands of people having vested interests.
Modi said a necessary ordinance would be promulgated to strengthen the co-operative sector and a comprehensive co-operative policy would be formulated keeping the interests of the common man in mind.
