V-C extends leave by 15 days Sunday, June 24, 2001
Ahmedabad, June 23: The vice-chancellor of Gujarat University, Naresh Ved will extend his leave for 15 more days. Talking to The Asian Age, Mr Ved said, “My wife is not well and will have to undergo a surgery. She will have to be hospitalised and I need to be by her side.”
Negating the chances of allegations that he went on leave when the university needed him the most, he said, “The university has a pro-vice-chancellor who can take care of things. I went on leave after one month of his joining. I took leave after the examinations were over and the exam schedule was in place. Moreover, 25,000 of the 32,000 admissions were given when I went on leave.”
