BJ Medical receives 12,074 applications Sunday, June 17, 2001
Ahmedabad, June 15: The B.J. Medical College on Friday, completed phase one of admission to medical, dental and physiotherapy courses for the current academic session. The college has received as many as 12,074 application forms for admission to the three courses.
Giving out information about the admission procedure later in the day, dean of B.J. Medical College Dr K.V. Bhatt informed, “The processing of the forms would begin shortly. If everything goes off well, we are hopeful to start the academic session by September 2001.”
It should be recalled that the last academic session had begun as late as December 2000. “Due to court intervention in admission-related matters, the admission procedures got delayed,” remarked Dr Bhatt.
The college would take one to one-and-a-half months to scrutinise all the applications. “The college would send the forms to the social welfare department to list out candidates of reserved categories.
We would also have to wait for those candidates who have filled re-checking of their HSCE (science) answer sheets, so that they can be listed properly in our merit list,” Dr Bhatt informed. He added that the admission process started well in time, much before the engineering admissions have begun, and therefore, it would help in fast processing of the admission forms.
Meanwhile, the Central Degree Admission Committee on Thursday kicked off the first phase of admission to degree course in hotel and tourism management at the L.D. College of Engineering by distributing information brochures and admission forms to aspiring HSCE pass outs.
The CDAC will kick off the engineering and pharmacy admission procedures from Monday. A press release issued by the CDAC said, “HSCE (science) and HSCE (general) pass out candidates can apply for four-year degree course in hotel and tourism management being run by Vivekanand Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management, Rajkot.
Candidates can get information on the course through information booklet available at L.D. College, which will also be distributing admission forms till June 30. The filled-up forms would be accepted at the L.D. College till June 30, the press release stated.
The press release further stated that HSCE (science) passouts aspiring to take up degree or diploma courses in engineering and pharmacy can collect admission forms from L.D. The forms will be available from June 18 to July 5. The filled up forms will be accepted at the L.D. College from June 18 to July 5.
