Choksi brothers face probe Wednesday, June 13, 2001

Ahmedabad, June 12: Naresh K Choksi, 53, Prashant N Choksi, 24, and Jignesh N Choksi, 26, were brought to the Navrangpura police station for interrogation through a transfer warrant, late on Monday night.

The three were named by Daksha Shah, wife of the late Devang Shah for abetting and instigating her husband to commit suicide and an offence of the same was filed under Section 306 of the IPC. Ms Shah had also named Mohit Srivastav, Bank of Baroda official, who was incharge of the gold desk at the overseas branch of the bank.

Before his death, Shah had given a statement in front of the executive magistrate that Srivastav and the three Choksis forced him to commit suicide.

All the three Choksis are already in judicial custody in Sabarmati Central jail and under CBI investigation for their involvement in MMCB and Classic Co-operative Bank. Meanwhile Srivastav has been granted bail but is yet to take the lie detector test.
