Ahmedabad. June 1: A father and son committed suicide by drinking some poisonous substance mixed with Thums Up on Friday evening. Their bodies where found near the Blind Peoples’ Association under a tree on the 132 feet ring road. A scooter and a big bottle of Thums Up was found near the bodies.

Passers by found their address in their pockets and informed their neighbours living in Amar Apartments, Navrangpura who rushed to the spot along with police. Mr Mayank Shah, neighbour of the deceased identified them as Rajubhai M Shah, 48 and Suketu R Shah, 18, both residents of 18/204 Amar Apartments, Naranpura. Satellite police. Shah was a self employed jeweller who operated from home.

Mr Mayank Shah talking to The Asian Age said that the boy was in HSCE (general), the result of which was declared on Friday. All of them were expecting the duo to return home after the results. But they received a call stating that they were dead. “The boy Suketu had earlier failed in standard twelve and might have failed this time also,” he said.

Mr Shah further said Raju Shah’s wife died a few years ago. Now the college going daughter of Shah is the only surviving member of the family. The Police has registered a case of accidental death and sent the bodies for post mortem.

Ahmedabad: The Sola high court police arrested four women chain snatchers and recovered nine gold chains worth Rs 42,000. The arrested are Parvatiben Jyotiram Verma, 35, Shobha Ashok Maratha, 35, Mala alias Shobha Bansi Vaman, and Narmada Kantiram Dharma, 30. All the arrested women are from Badisevala village of Jalgaon district in Maharashtra. These women were arrested at the Chanakyapuri vegetable market on May 31.
