Three killed in bus-rickshaw collision Monday, November 19, 2001

AHMEDABAD: Three persons died on the spot and at least 21 were injured as a shuttle rickshaw (chakda) in which they were travelling collided with a mini-bus on the Jamnagar highway on Sunday evening.

The victims belonged to Khadba village and were going from Shishdhar to Paneli. The rickshaw (GJ-10 3601) ran into the mini-bus killing Devayat Ahir, Mepabhai Ahir and Devanand alias Munnabhai on the spot. An offence has been registered with the Jamjodhpur police.

Trucker looted: A trucker was assaulted and looted of Rs 24,000 as four persons armed with sticks attacked him on Saturday night near Bareja. According to the Ahmedabad district police, Bhutto Sheru Siddiqui, who was driving the truck, halted near Pragati hotel on the Kheda highway to relieve himself, when two persons held him and two others attacked the cleaner sitting inside the truck's cabin. The driver and the cleaner were beaten up, gagged and their money snatched by the desperadoes.
