Girls held for ‘obscene gestures’ Wednesday, June 20, 2001

Ahmedabad, June 19: Three girls were apprehended by the Vatva police from outside the Satnam Guest House for allegedly making obscene gestures in a public place. They were arrested and booked under Bombay Police Act under Sections 110 and 117.

The girls apprehended have been identified as Meena Patel, 22-year-old girl who is a resident of Mira Road, Mumbai, Shabana Bano Saiyyed, 18-year-old resident of Bharat Nagar, Andhra Pradesh and Shivani Das, 19-year-old of Andheri East, Mumbai.

According to Vatva police officials the three girls were running a prostitution den from the Satnam guest house and were also creating public nuisance in the area. When contacted, Vatva police officials were unavailable for comment.
