Sampat Shah dead Friday, October 5, 2001

AHMEDABAD: Chairman and founder-member of Rajasthan Hospitals Sampat Shah died on Sunday. Sampat had undergone a successful bypass surgery, but later developed a rare immunological blood transfusion disease to which he succumbed. Shah was actively associated with various social, education and commercial organisations.

Sheikh re-elected: The chairman of Standing Committee of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Badruddin Sheikh, was re-elected to the post for a second successive term on Wednesday. During the committee's meeting, Sheikh's name was proposed by Congress leader Jayantibhai Parmar and seconded by BJP leader of opposition Dharmendra Shah.
