Accused escapes, caught: Wednesday, December 12, 2001

An accused caught in a cheating case escaped from police custody on Tuesday morning and was caught hours later. The accused Amit Mansukh Soni was caught in a cheating case lodged two years back at the Naranpura police station. He was nabbed a week ago and was remanded to police custody. On Tuesday he escaped on the pretext of going to the toilet around 6.55 am and was found from Maninagar around 12.15 pm.
