Half-an-hour additional water supply from May 6 Friday, May 4, 2001
Ahmedabad: The city will get additional water supply from May 6 for half-an-hour from 6 pm to 6.30 pm, it was decided at the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation standing committee meeting here on Tuesday.
It is estimated that an additional three-and-half-million gallons of water will be required to fulfil the need during the summer. The city uses nine million gallons of water in the morning while it gets five million gallons from Narmada River.
The additional water will be taken from about 250 tube-wells in the city. Meanwhile, a five-member team of AMC consisting of the mayor, Himmatsingh Patel, deputy mayor Khemchand Solanki, chairman of the standing committee Badruddin Sheikh, leader of BJP, Dharmendra Shah and deputy municipal commissioner P.U. Asnanani left for the US.
Mr Patel said that the main aim of the visit to the US is to attend the conference on solid waste management and long term planning for development in limited budget.
