Licences of 13 kerosene dealers suspended Wednesday, December 5, 2001
SOURCE - TIMES NEWS NETWORK
GANDHINAGAR: Civil supplies minister Bharat Barot on Tuesday said that the flying squad of his department had suspended licenses of 13 kerosene dealers in Rapar taluka of Kutch district for indulging in irregularities in sale of the commodity earmarked for ration card holders.
While speaking to reporters, Barot said officials have been asked to monitor the functioning of petrol pumps as several complaints have been received alleging they were selling adulterated petroleum products.
Barot, accompanied by senior IOC officials, visited a petrol pump at Ambawadi and inspected the demonstration for better consumer service organised by the oil company.
He said the oil companies have been asked to prominently display the message at petrol pumps that consumers could check the quality of the fuel through the litmus paper test.
The companies have agreed to the government's request to dispatch an officer with each of the three mobile laboratories to check adulteration of fuel.
Barot said the government has decided to retain old ration cards numbering more than 33.50 lakh for below poverty line families in the larger interests of the poor. Distribution of computerised cards will be completed by the month-end.News Source : The Times of India [India's best Newspaper]
