Schools will be repaired by Dec 15: Patel Monday, December 10, 2001

AHMEDABAD: State education minister Anandi Patel said on Sunday that repair work on all primary schools in the state, damaged by the January 26 earthquake, will be over by December 15. The total project cost has been pegged at Rs 68 crore.

According to the minister, a survey revealed that of the 9,191 earthquake-damaged schools, repair work in 3,307 schools have been completed till November 30. These include 647 schools in Banaskantha district and 355 schools in Kutch. The rest of the work, she said, would be completed by next week.

Along with the schools, repair work is also on at 42,025 earthquake-damaged classrooms. Of them, work is complete at 14,072 classrooms.
