Increase in Rajkot dist. voter's list Friday, December 14, 2001

RAJKOT: There has been a rise of 1.93 lakh voters in the Rajkot district. There would now be 20,18,389 voters in the district, official sources said on Thursday. The work for the revision of Rajkot district voter's list that began on November 5, concluded on December 4 after which the official increase has been announced, sources said. The final list would be out on January 16. Those whose names have not been registered yet, could still do so by approaching the taluka mamlatdar office, sources said.

Surprisingly, there has been a drop in the Rajkot-2 assembly constituency while all other areas has shown a rise in number of voters. The highest increase in voters has been in Rajkot-3 assembly constituency in which the increase was 31.07 per cent.

As many as 5,79,371 names have been deleted due to various reasons like shifting and death. The maximum number of complaints about duplicate names was from the Rajkot-2 assembly constituency. According to the old voters list there were 1,53,953 registered voters of which 6804 names were deleted and another 68,393 were added.

According to official figures released by the collector's office, the maximum number of voters increase has been in Rajkot-3 assembly constituency in which 1,61,258 names have been added, this is followed by Rajkot-1 assembly seat in which 1,02,138 names have been added and 68,895 names have been added in the Morbi list. The lowest rise in voter's names was from Jasdan in which 38,717 names were added.
