Governor to open national agmark show at Rajkot Friday, December 14, 2001

RAJKOT: Governor Sundar Singh Bhandari will inaugurate the five-day national agmark exhibition at the Race Course grounds here on Friday.

Joint secretary-cum- agricultural marketing advisor to the government of India P K Agarwal told reporters here that the exhibition was aimed at creating an awareness about agmark products in the people.

There would be around 35 stalls, most of them of top products. But the thrust would be to buy agmark products which were cheaper, healthier and had an acceptance all over the country, he added.

In about 20 edible items of daily use, adulteration was common. They included oil, milk, sweets, ghee, butter. Besides petrol and such products lent themselves to adulteration. As a safeguard, the people must opt for agmark products as they had the seal of quality and of course, quantity. He felt a strict implementation of the law could curb such elements who resorted to adulteration.

Founder of the Rajkot Saher Jilla Grahak Suraksha Mandal Ramjibhai Mavani said their organisation would also set up a stall, wherein visitors would be apprised of their rights as customer. Literature would also be supplied.
