Turning to unusual healing methods Tuesday, October 30, 2001

By A Special Correspondent, AsianAge
Ahmedabad: Seventy-two-year-old Shanta was in her first stage of cancer. Premchand Rathore was suffering from asthma. Chandmal Gurjar was suffering from oral cancer. Fate had something different in store for them if had they not undergone the experiment of having gaumutra (cow’s urine).

While many in the field of science fail to believe the benefits of consuming gaumutra, industrialist-turned-gaumutra practitioner Virendrakumar Jain claims that in the last three years he has treated more than 50,000 patients suffering from various ailments.

Mr Jain, who was in the city to propagate the gaumutra therapy, claimed while talking to The Asian Age that any disease that any MBBS doctor is aware of can be treated with this therapy.

Diabetes, asthma, blood pressure, hepatitis B, migraine and cancer are among the few ailments that can be cured by this therapy, he claims, adding the concept of using gaumutra is more than 1,000-year-old in India. Even Aids can be cured, he further claims.

Explaining the benefits of the therapy, Mr Jain says that the gaumutra makes up for various types of deficiencies in the human body. Each patient has to take 100 ml of cow’s urine everyday and the period for which it has to be taken varies depending upon the gravity of problem.

Apart from gaumutra, the patients also have to take bottle gourd juice, methi and other such things. They are also required to follow certain guidelines while eating food at home. Mr Jain says that he had known about the benefits of cow’s urine.

However, he started experimenting for others after his mother benefited by the experiment. She was suffering from cancer. He claims that now she is well. So far the Gaumutra Chikitsa Evam Anusundhan Kendra run by Mr Jain has opened 211 franchises in the country. He says that his aim is to open 10,000 such centres all over the country in another five years.

He has also set a target of training 19,000 people, who can run the kendras by prescribing the therapy. The kendra, with its headquarters in Indore, is to open two more branches in Gujarat on Sunday.

One branch will be opened in Dhansura, about 75-km away from Ahmedabad and another in Rojad in Sabarkantha district. Mr Jain says that he has designed a book on the therapy of gaumutra in such a manner that even a boy, who has passed class 12, can prescribe the quantity of cow’s urine and other homemade medicines.

The gaumutra is provided free of cost and the other homemade remedies are priced reasonably, he claimed.
